CT
CT Scanning High resolution CT scanning of all body areas (Brain, Head, and Neck, Spin, Chest, Cardiovascular, Abdomen, Pelvis, Genitourinary, and Musculoskeletal) are available using the hightest quality CT equipment CT and CT Angiography (CTA) Our state-of-the-art 8 slice, 40 slice and 64 slice multidetector CT Scanners provide remarkably rapid image acquisition and image reconstruction times, increased anatomic coverage, significant reduction of motion artifacts and radiation dose, and dramatically improved resolution. As a result small sub-centimeter lesions can be detected with increased accuracy and frequency. Bolus chasing and other sophisticated software applications provide consistency and image optimization for CT angiography. CT Coronary Angiography can be performed utilizing advanced image processing that provides 2D and 3D reconstructions with enhanced resolution. · CT Screening including CT Colonography (“Virtual Colonoscopy”) Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring and Low-dose Lung Screening CT Colonography is a relatively non-invasive examination that is utilized as a screening examination for the detection of colonic polyps. Our 8 and 16 slice multidetector CT scanners produce high- resolution images of the colon and provide for extremely fast throughput minimizing patient discomfort. 3D reconstructions recreate the inner surface of the colon to display polyps as small as one mm in size. Coronary Artery Scoring is a CT screening technique utilizing advanced post-processing software that detects coronary artery calcifications and compares the number and extent of calcifications with national standards. This provides the referring physician with a calcium index or “score” that quantifies the patients relative risk for coronary artery disease. Low-dose Lung Screening is a CT screening technique that provides cross-sectional imaging of the lung in patients at high risk for developing lung cancer. Our 8 and 16 slice multidetector CT scanners provide extremely rapid imaging thereby markedly reducing motion artifacts and dramatically improving sub-centimeter nodule detection.
GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS
· General Diagnostic X-ray Radiology Associates offers the full range of diagnostic x-ray studies including chest, musculoskeletal, abdominal, gastrointestinal and genitourinary x-ray studies. Arthrography and Myelography are also offered. The studies are performed in a digital format utilizing our advanced Fuji CR system and are immediately available on our GE PACS system for review.
MAMMOGRAPHY
· Breast Imaging Our mammography service provides the complete range of breast studies including high resolution, low-dose digital screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, ultrasound guided core biopsies, needle localizations, stereotactic biopsy, and diagnostic and biopsy MRI services. MAMMOGRAPHY PATIENTS REQUIREMENTS FOR EXAMINATION When you schedule your yearly mammography examination, it is extremely important that at the time of your examination, our radiologists are able to review your previous mammograms in order to perform a comparison. Please request old films from outside institutions, if your films were not taken here at Mount Sinai Radiology Associates. Please bring these films with you when you attend for mammography. Please be aware that if we do not have prior films for comparison there is a higher likelihood that you will be recalled for further imaging. Kindly wear loose clothing, preferably separate tops and bottoms. Do not use deodorant, powder or perfume under your arms. Make sure you have breakfast or lunch before you report for your mammography. Patients who are referred for diagnostic ultrasounds should have a correct requisition form from their referring physician. Please be aware that screening ultrasound examinations are not reimbursed by Medicare or most other insurance carriers. If your doctor orders this, you will have to pay out of pocket for this test. We appreciate your co-operation and look forward to be of assistance to you. For additional information on Women's Imaging click on the following link: WOMENS IMAGING MRI
· Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) High resolution MRI studies of all body areas (Brain, Head and Neck, Spine, Chest, Cardiovascular, Heart, Abdomen, Pelvis, Genitourinary, and Musculoskeletal) are available using the highest quality MRI equipment and interpreted by internationally renowned Radiologists. · Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) Minimally invasive diagnostic studies of the Aorta, coronary, carotid, renal, abdominal and peripheral arteries. · Functional MRI studies The higher resolution images generated by the Center’s 1.5 and 3.0 Telsa MRIs enable earlier lesion detection and intervention, and the three-dimensional surface display provides enhanced visualization for surgical and treatment planning. Our high performance scanners provide outstanding high resolution MR anatomic, perfusion and diffusion neuroimaging, comprehensive MR musculoskeletal and spine imaging as well as advanced body imaging applications such as MR cholangiography, MR urography, breast and pelvic imaging. Sophisticated MRA applications can provide high resolution Angiography of the Circle of Willis, Carotid Arteries, Aorta and great vessels, pulmonary arteries, mesenteric vessels, renal, hepatic and portal vessels, and the peripheral extremity vasculature. MR Angiography and Cardiac MR can evaluate atherosclerotic disease, congenital heart disease and cardiac function. Rapid image acquisition and the availability of oral or IV sedation and anesthesia enable studies to be performed on patients with special needs, such as children or claustrophobic individuals. NUCLEAR MEDICINE
· Radionuclide Tomographic Imaging Mount Sinai Nuclear Medicine Associates offers the full range of radionuclide imaging procedures, including SPECT/CT, in vitro diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures. Imaging is performed with advanced all digital imaging equipment and includes bone, lung, thyroid, parathyroid, kidney, brain, infection, stomach and GI transit imaging, sentinel node imaging, liver-spleen imaging and kidney function measurement.
PET
· PET (Positron Emission Tomography) Mount Sinai Nuclear Medicine Associates offers the full range of PET studies utilizing a state-of-the-art Advance GE PET scanner. Positron Emission Tomography is a sophisticated molecular functional imaging technique, using advanced technology to display the functional status of tissues in the body at the cellular level. PET scanning can detect changes in cell function or disease well before they become evident on CT or MRI, and can provide diagnostic information simply not available from anatomic imaging modalities like CT or MR. PET is particularly useful in the evaluation of a solitary lung nodule, lung cancer, colon cancer, melanoma, esophageal cancer, lymphoma, head and neck cancer, and staging of breast cancer. PET is indicated for the evaluation of refractory seizures and evaluation of cardiac perfusion and myocardial viability. PET is also useful in the evaluation of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
